Sept18 Recap & True Bias Patterns Giveaway!

(The ongoing one-year blogiversary giveaway is still going strong. Here for the prizes? Sign up for the newsletter and check out the prizes near the bottom of this post.)

September turned into a bit of a party. I didn’t anticipate pulling back so far from garment making, but I actually haven’t sewn  anything in two whole weeks leading up to this relaunch. And the truth is, I haven’t really missed it.

It’s been fun indulging my other creative pursuits! That said, I did make a couple of cute things for myself.

The original plans were to make blue things based on the #sigcotm inspiration, sapphires. And for the first time in a long time, I actually did this! Yay for sticking to plans and double YAY for using up stash fabric!

The makes:

I finished the R2D2 dress! Yes, the name stuck thanks to the design in the fabric. The Chalk & Notch Fringe Blouse is surprisingly easy, even though I’ve never installed ties, let alone in darts.

And that meant I got to participate in #sewmystyle2018 again this month!

I got it together in time for our anniversary trip to La Quina to take my Colette Myrtle with me. Despite the old-timey name, the dress felt fresh and cute in the purpley-blue crepe.

Finally, there were the shorts that became Mrs. Erato’s Opus. I spent the entire summer working on the True Bias Lander shorts to get the fit right. It’s still not exactly perfect because I still have to rely on an elastic back to get the waistband to sit properly, but the important parts fit.

Like the crotch!

And to celebrate that victory, plus the ongoing one year blogiversary, today one lucky newsletter subscriber gets a chance to win the pattern! Kelli at True Bias generously donated one PDF copy of the Lander Pants & Shorts (you get two patterns for one!).

Even though it’s a PDF, you can also have it printed at a copy shop if you’re #teamnopdf.
