The continually updated master list of all the maker challenges is always up in the menu bar. But if you want the list for just March’s challenges, here you go! This also includes challenges that are ongoing and those ending this month that may have started earlier in the year.

March 2019 Challenges

#50nuancesdejaunecontrelendometriose: a French Instagram call to action. Post any kind of craft in shades of yellow throughout March to bring awareness to that 1 out of 10 women suffer from endometriosis. Follow @chezmachinepatterns for more info. Runs until March 31.

52 Week Sewing Challenge: a Facebook-only challenge with weekly themes. March’s are:

  • sew your oldest fabric
  • sew something that is not clothing
  • sew a woman’s pattern
  • sew something with a collar

#BlazerofGlory: join Closet Case Patterns in making the #JaskiaBlazer over an 8-week timeline with weekly prizes. Follow @closetcase.patterns for the weekly prompts.

#BoPoMarch: join @makingtheflame in a month of celebrating body positivity! All are welcome to share their experiences.

#BGChallenge: a Facebook-only contest, the purpose of the Breaking Ground Challenge is to use a pattern from a new-to-you pattern designer/company. Submissions must be posted in the Facebook album. Join the Sew Alongs & Sewing Contests Facebook group to see full details. Ends March 31.

#ColourInThirds: sew a garment using @tessutifabrics‘s newest Japanese polyester crepe de chine currently 50% off and win a chance at cash and prizes. Note the spelling! Contest closes midnight AEST April 14 (time zone converter for non-Australians).

#HOCBreakTheRules: @houseofcurves hosts monthly challenges that break the “rules” of what curvy bodies “should” wear. March’s theme is rompers. Follow @seamslikestyle for more details.

#LetsSewThisTogether: a continuation of January’s #sewfancypants, @havingsewmuchfun and @makerheart are planning to organize a sewing swap. Watch this space for info come March.

#MAGAMSewalong: with a year-long capsule theme for 2019, there is also a monthly theme. March’s theme is Mad March.

#MakeYourStash: 3-month challenge to use the older (possibly neglected) fabrics in your stash, with prizes from various sponsors. Follow @timetosew and @pilar_bear for sustainability-inspired prompts every Monday through June 2019.

#MarchMeetTheMaker: the annual prompt-driven challenge to promote your maker-focused business starts March 1. Prompts released in mid-February by @joannehawker.

#MIYMarch: Make It Yourself March returns with daily prompts (but no sponsors this time) all month long. Follow @thatwendyward and @dressmakerssocial.

#SewBibs: post any bibs, dungarees, overalls, pinafores that you make between March 1 and April 12. Follow @terridodds1, @cookinandcraftin, @jessamyb, and @heidi_handmadefrenzy for giveaways. Ends April 12.

#SewHappyColor: make and post something in the weekly color theme and tag @katiekortmanart for a chance to win prizes. There’s a new color theme each week and it wraps up March 31.

#SewingChallenge2019: a monthly theme prompt. March’s theme is shirt. Join the Facebook group for more info.

#SewingMetallicMarch: the March theme for #sewingpatternsandprints, tag @voiceofacreative, @sewn_on_the_tyne, and @purplesewingcloud for prizes. Ends March 31.

#SewMyStyle2019: each month brings a new theme and potential sponsor prizes. March’s theme is cardigans featuring the Helen’s Closet Blackwood and Style Arc Como. Join the Facebook group for more info.

#SewThatPatternNow: find your neglected patterns and make them already! Tag @coffeeandthread@sewitcurly and @e_shimokawa with the hashtag to win prizes. Runs through April 2019.

#SewWaxLyrical: help celebrate @sewvee‘s birthday by posting a picture on Instagram of a handmade wax print garment and follow all the sponsors for a chance to win prizes. Ends March 31.

#SewYourView: a monthly sew along, for March the pattern is McCall’s 7906. Pick your view and follow this month’s host @curvygirlsarechic for inspiration.

#BurdaStylePlus: if you use a plus-size BurdaStyle pattern, use this new hashtag!

#HandmadeHappyDance: started by @amynicolestudio to encourage makers to don their favorite handmade garment while dancing to their favorite song. Join on Instagram anytime.

#LetsDiscuss2019: for the book bloggers, to engage in lively debates all year long

#UseNine2019: another year-long prompt to encourage you to use up 9 stash fabrics.  Join anytime.

#MakeNine: a low-key year-long prompt to encourage the making of garments (sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc), using either this or #2019MakeNine. Join anytime.

#SewingLeftovers: a gentle nudge to encourage sustainability in fabric waste. Check out @shaunimagnifique‘s post on The Magnificent Thread. Join anytime.

#DayandNightDressChallenge: Elizabeth’s annual challenge, this year’s theme is 1 Dress, 2 Looks. Post your look by March 17.
