Sunday Lately 2019: Week 21 – Doubting, Shopping, Believing

Image of computer, watch, phone, camera, and pens with text Week 021-2019 May 26 Doubting, Shopping, Believing -- The Blogger Co-op Sunday LatelyAre you new to Sunday Lately? Check this out.

Since last week’s post was a bit of a downer, let’s talk turkey. Later this week I’m going back to my regular Tuesday/Friday schedule with actual content. One of them is a sewing fail and the stats don’t lie: fails are fun! In the meantime, I’m still working through some of the same stress and worry, but it’s getting better.

I got back to my daily art project, #the100DaysProject. Which means I got OUT this week! What else happened:

Doubt has negative connotations in my mind. And I don’t want to be negative, so let’s talk about the band No Doubt.

I was a huge fan of No Doubt and all 90s bands. Stone Temple Pilots, Sublime, Third Eye Blind, The Offspring, Soundgarden, Hole, Garbage, 311, Nirvana, Bush, Smashing Pumpkins. I was in high school in the mid-90s and these bands provided the soundtrack for my teenage years. And they were good years, so I remember all of these rather fondly.

Now you won’t be surprised when I post my 90s-inspired flannel shirt on Tuesday! Here’s a sneak peek of an outtake from the photo shoot. You can see there’s a pineapple growing out of my head.

Which was your favorite 90s band?

It’s been 18 months since I started my RTW Fast and the only clothing I’ve bought this year is leggings. I hadn’t even realized I’m still kind of doing this fast! (Leggings don’t count because I can’t be bothered to fail at making them again.) I did pop into Joann’s for some generic black bias tape yesterday (upcoming project, shh!), and even got out without buying ANY ADDITIONAL FABRIC.

I spotted a gorgeous shirting in my favorite color combo (red and lavender) that I might go back for, though.

Our first third* wedding anniversary is next Saturday, so that could be my husband’s gift to me, right? Who cares if the traditional gift is leather? Speaking of which, what should I get El Hubo??? Taking ideas in the comments below!

In 2 weeks time, I’m giving a talk about blogging on the WordPress platform and I have to believe it’s going to be interesting. I’ve been a little distracted by life so I haven’t given it much thought…which means I don’t really have much of an idea of what I’m going to say. It’s, thankfully, a very small group (20 people if I’m lucky).

What would you want to hear if you went to a talk about blogging? Do you self-host on WordPress? If you do, leave me a link to it down below and let me know how you feel about the platform.

*El Hubo and I had 2 weddings, so we celebrate both anniversaries. Our second third anniversary will be in October!

I am self-hosted on, and I like it because I own the platform. It’s not like Instagram, or Facebook or any of the free hosting sites, where you can be shut down at any time for any reason. I started out on with a free site, and it was a real pain to switch over to the self-hosted version. I didn’t understand the difference at the time, which is why I went with the free one. Covering the differences between and could be really useful for your presentation. This is my original free site: This… Read more »

No helpful suggestions on anniversary gifts the hubby! However I switched over to self hosted on WordPress two+ years ago and it was a great move! I use Siteground for hosting. They are wonderful to work with.
